Doolie Day Out Cancelled Due to Flu concerns?

I just got this from my son's roommate's mother. Their military friends in Colorado Springs are sponsoring their son so she has been in touch with them:

Ryan's sponsor just called and said she'd gotten an official email stating that Doolies Day Out was cancelled. :-(

She is forwarding me the email and I will pass it on as soon as I get it. They are allowing the cadets to have their cellphones if their sponsors drop them off, but there will also be phones available for them to call home. Naturally there will not be any training, lots of food and sleep/rest time provided.

Hi Auz.mom, My son is one of the flu sick BC, I received a call last night giving us the news. He couldn't talk because " he wasn't feeling good enough to get on the phone.I am still waiting for his call today. Is there any way to know about his status? I must not wait until Sunday. The Clinic has no info, and his NOC phone number goes directly to an answering machine. He is in the Squad 34 Jaguars. Thanks for keeping us informed.

Waiting for reply for the contact given. The parents Liaison is out of town but I sent to the contact she has her email forwarded to. I am trying to get some official statement. I will check if we can get clarification. I have a feeling that you will not know who is sick until Sunday when your Basic Cadets have phones, but I will see what I can find out.

I am sure the Cadets there will help to make sure the Doolies get to call home and will let them use their cell phones as much as they want. I know my son will do what he can.

Last night I started a prayer thread over on the community prayer group for 2009 BCT and this was the 1st request based on the information yesterday.

Here are two positive postings from upperclass cadets from another forum.
basic cadets who brought phones and turned them in with civilian luggage will get them back. otherwise there will be phones available in Arnold Hall tomorrow to use, as well as computers and movies and food.

sponsor's who have pre-packaged items for basic cadets can place them in a box/bag with the basic cadets name, squadron, and flight, and drop them off at A-hall between 0700-0930. Sadly though, no one will be allowed to visit the basic cadets.

upperclassmen are still dismissed as normal as 2nd BCT cadre will be taking over tomororw after "Doolie Day In". we're doing everything we can to take care of them and let them have a little time off.

Another posting:
Yes, they are getting their cell phones. There will be food and movies available, and they are going to be "at rest" for the day.

MY CADET JUST CALLED!!!!
He borrowed someones cellphone and was not sure what time he would be able to call. I was the last and only person he called that answered the phone. Sad I was the last but very happy I answered.

He is doing well, shins are bad but sucking it up. Depressed that Doolie Day is cancelled. He will call tomorrow when he can talk longer.
