Default Happy Easter all! How are you spending your day?

I hope all have a joyous day with your family and friends

Austin and I will celebrate the Day of rememberance of Christ resurection by:
  • Attending Church For All Nations | Homepage in Colorado Springs . this is not the usual Chruch that Austin goes to but many of his Cadet friends in FCA attend the church so we thought this would be a great weekend to visit and see what the buzz is all about.
  • Having brunch at Cheyenne mountain inn. We got lucky and one of Austin's teammates family cacelled their reservation, and we took their spot. So now we will get to enjoy easter brunch.
  • Going to a Guithery's Bar and Grill on Academy boulevard for a fun Adult easter egg hunt and enjoy the best Smoked chicken wings I have ever had.
  • Of course we still get visited from The easter bunny when we are together! Austin is getting a basket full of Candy and also a stunt kite that I am hoping he can fly in the USAFA courtyard. We flew stunt kites often when we visited myrtle beach. This will be a fun diversion for him and other cadets who stop by to watch the performance.

We also went to see a wonderful performance of the Thorn (Think Passion of the Christ) with about 60 other Cadets on Good Friday. It was well done, Broadway quality production. We had a great time visiting with about 15 cadets afterwards at the Coldstone creamery.

A quiter Easter for us. We attended Saturday service, so our day will start out slow. I have hid easter eggs for the seventeenth year. Fifteen in this house, and I am amazed of how many places that I have never hid an egg.

At service last night I realized that with my son going off to the Academy, that our children are not ours (my wife and I), but he, like my daughter, is a child of God's. And we are only allowed to have them for a short time. We mold them and, some how the manage to mold us, but we then must give them up to the world. I hope and pray that both he and the world are ready for each other.

This has always been something I have thought about for many years now. I call it the "paradigm of good parenting". It seems that if we are good parents and we do our job as parents well, then eventually they grow up and leave. The good side of this is that they come home with their wives/husbands, and grandchildren etc. , the bad side, depending upon what they do and where they go, is that they come home with dirty laundry and bills they "forgot" to pay and "...could you pay this for me?" This is the Circle of Life!

Our Easter began slow also, we attended 7AM Mass with Jonathan and he had to leave right after to return to Mizzou. He is a Residence Advisor and has to be there early to open the dorms. He will be home next week for the Notre Dame HS play which we all will attend. The rest of the day will be relaxing and enjoying the nice Spring weather.

I recorded our church service on the DVR (or will in 15 minutes) so that I and my husband, who had to work this morning, can watch together this afternoon. Then we're having a little feast (steaks and mushrooms!!) for supper.

And I'm playing with a puzzle today. How to inexpensively (<$100) build a homemade anemometer that will record and store windspeeds on a remote hilltop for a year, unattended. It's a fun problem that would be easy if it didn't have to be outside!

You "guys" are having too much fun and profound family moments . I'm just hanging out at the salt mine, covering a shift for someone else to have some family time. Perdition.

My C4C is "roadtripping" with about half her squadron. They got set up a hop to Mcquire AFB on a KC135. They when up to NYC to visit Ground Zero and the USS Intrepid Museum. I trust other squadrons are being afforded similar oportunities.

Happy Easter (Spring Solstice for our Wiccan Folk!) !!!

It's been a quiet Easter Sunday for me so far. Went out to eat earlier, then tracked down some blues because there are issues with mine at the cleaners. Otherwise, bout to go out to the gym, and sittin back trying to pass the time, keeping my fingers crossed waiting and hoping an appointment letter shows up for me. Gonna give the family a call here shortly and talk to them all, wish them a happy Easter and all that. Hope you're all enjoying yours, as well.

We have enjoyed a wonderful Easter today. Our cadet was home with us for the weekend, which I alway enjoy because so far he has never been home for a summer leave and this year he will be gone too. Ironically, we did not go to church today like we do every other week. Our church has a semi-annual worldwide conference that just happened to fall on Easter this year, so our worship spanned all of Saturday and Sunday watching our leaders address us on TV. Many wonderful sermons on the great Atoning sacrifice of our Lord. We had a turkey dinner and now Tom is driving back to the hill.
