Way to take advantage of the publicity from the controversy. Good move

How is that even controversial? I thought it was over something more than this. Abortion isn't even mentioned.

Even if they spoke directly against having an abortion, and stated it, I don't see the problem, but then again I am pro-life.

My thoughts exactly. I thought, "That's it???" It doesn't even say "choose life" at the end, but "celebrate life"!
Allow me a stupid teenage response: whatever.... Tasteful, positive, and funny (I've been hit with a double-leg by more than one of my wrestling sons, myself )(My computer sound isn't working, so I'm not sure if that is the whole commercial or not, but the one I saw during the game had Tebow "tackling" Mom while she was telling the story.) I read that the complaint came from those who had tried to get pro-choice ads on and CBS responded that they weren't allowing any type of political/controversial ads during the superbowl.
But I say they're a private company. They can air whatever ads they want. "Pro-choicers" can get over it. |

Do you know how much garbage we are feed over the tv and the radio. How about, don't have an abortion, have the child and when that child is 10 and you have to explain all the junk that that child sees on tv. Then you'll get tired real fast. You'll start watching sports alot, but then you'll have to explain the Cialis commercial or explain why some woman is riding a mechaical bull while eating a Carl's Jr. hamburger.(i don't eat there anymore).
And even the conservative values of today are watered down compared to those years ago. Sorry for my tirade. John

OK I found it. Thanks for the heads up. That was so funny. Much better than 1st and really will catch people attention to go to the site for the whole story. Does anyone know how many times it was played?
Still don't see what the big stink was about.

Agreed about the Cialis ads--you can't watch Fox News without that garbage. I personally felt that the Tebow ad was effective. They gave enough of a teaser about Tebow's story to pique my interest to go to the Focus on the Family site for more.... Those that are Tebow fans, pro-life or not, may check it out and be blessed. Those that hate him anyway, may not have been swayed by an ad that was more blatantly pro-life. I believe that Focus on the Family made a great PR move by creating a classy, funny ad that left the people saying, "What in the world is wrong with THAT???" All this time I thought pro-choice meant...pro-choice....
But they sure came out hard against choosing to keep a pregnancy, in the offensive way that liberals have been behaving for the last year. They've done more to sway my views more conservative than any from my own party ever has managed to do, on topics that I was undecided about, like the health reform. You know, when I was carrying Sarah, we knew there was a problem. My father, who is about as bull-headed conservative as they come, was really angry with me because we had decided not to terminate. And then, when she was born at 2lb 15 oz, my aunt, who is a devout Jehovah's Witness (also a pretty conservative entity), sent me tons of literature trying to convince us that it was wrong to take the measures we were taking to keep her alive because her church leader had preached against such. We were to take her out of the incubator and let her freeze/starve to death. We didn't choose to let her live because of lofty ideals or devout faith or any of that, I have to admit. I wish I could say it was. At each step of the way we questioned and researched and weighed the choices. There was one condition off the list that we would have terminated for, we decided, because she would have lived just a few hours anyway, and in agony. That's how I define choice. It means churches and fathers and political entities have no power over what I do. It's also how I define freedom. I was once in the hospital for a D&C (before Sarah) because the doctor thought I had a dead baby inside (he was half right, but it was in one of my tubes). The nurse confided to me that she'd just had her second that year. Unwanted pregnancies... she was talking about it like she'd had her tires changed on her Nissan... All the time I'm wondering how she could be so frivolous about it. I mean, she's a nurse...surely she knows what causes that! Had a guy worked for me awhile back, his girlfriend had an abortion because it was inconvenient. Also he said she was on drugs...and then he crowed to us all that they were still having unprotected sex, like it was something to brag about. Horrifying. I guess I'm pro-choice, in a way. Probably not what my preacher would like to hear me say. I don't think I should have been forced to keep the pregnancy if it had been found that my baby would live five hours in agony before dying. That choice had to be up to me. Would that be murder? Maybe so. I'm just not sure. I'm glad it would have been between me and God to figure out. But I'm pro-responsibility too. You can't just go around killing babies because there's an inconvenient consequence to your irresponsible behavior. This is the rot in our society now, an unwillingness to accept consequences for one's behavior. This is the big problem and it's -everywhere-. Look at Sarah now! She had a rough first few years but now she's smart and responsible and healthy and poised to do something. I can't wait to see how it goes! It's kind of funny how the people who wanted her dead in the beginning have conveniently forgotten that. Well, you know, they thought they were being kind, just like I would have thought I was being kind in that other condition. I dunno. It's just hard to come down hard on a position and stick to it no matter what on this subject. I guess that's why this is such a long rambling post! It's pretty bad that this ad is being attacked because it's about one mom making a choice to not kill her baby. Hypocrisy.
