Up here in New York, love the snow days. But my roots are in Texas. Hook 'Em Horns. O And I had a Major and A Colonel that I know write me recommendations for the seminar. 4.0 unweighted. 20th out of 250 class rank. Civil Air Patrol. Licensed private pilot. 3 varsity sport athlete. Captain for all of them. Band. Marching band snare drum leader. HOPE I GET IN!!!!

Let me introduce myself. I am Arthur Eng. from New Jersey.

Stats: attend a vocational school. 3.5 GPA. 65 Math, 63 Reading. run cc (17:22 5k), indoor/outdoor track (2:14 800, 4:42 1600, 10:35 3200). eagle scout. oa brotherhood. junior assistant scoutmaster, oa elangomat chariman. bsa national jamboree staff. OATC. did CAP - Airmen First Class, did Basic Encampment (got an O-flight in a C-130 out of McGuire AFB, where we practiced mid-air refueling). my father knows the ALO b/c he worked w/ him in DoD. worked w/ my congressman acting as the honor guard for his town hall meeting, as well as distributed questions from the audience regarding the health care bill.

got into Session A of SS. doesnt seem like a lot of A people on here. my classmate is attending session C.

so who is ready for SS. ive been talking to a 4th* about SS, and he said enjoy the alt while doing ur CFA.

56Airforce, don't worry about which one you put, the academy re-weights everyone's GPAs so they are comparable. For example, I had an unweighted 4.0 but the academy rescaled it to a 4.34 based on the difficulty of the classes I was taking

Starting to get nervous here. Anyone know the deadline for notification into SS?

I think they stop sending acceptances about a week after the deadline. Also note, that in many respects it is more difficult to get into SS than the academy because they weight acceptance a lot more heavily on pure academics (GPA and test scores)than they do when looking at candidates for the academy.

Thats true! I know someone who did not get into the SS, but got into the academy.

It happens to A LOT of people. Especially if you spend a lot of time on sports and other extra curriculars (more than even the average applicant, which is A LOT)

My son did not get accepted to the summer Seminar but IS at the Academy.

i attended a service academy forum today. the Lt from USAF who was discussing admissions said that applications opened up march 1. now i am afraid that if i apply using my ss and dob again that i would lose my profile for ss. i believe they work on the application at ss, but i would like to get a leg up and get my application in. any suggestions? i realize the basic info from the ss app is used in the regular app, but for the "other stuff". i plan on calling my alo to determine what is the best route - whether to "start" a new profile, or will i be able to fill out the application.

Hey dont worry! I have both types of applications out, I was accepted into the SS but like you I wanted to get a leg up so I decided to fill out the online app for the class of 2015....They take the info that you already filled out for the SS and then you can fill the extras. Because there are two different links for the SS and the regular app you can open both...I have both open now. so open the regular one too but i heard it really doesnt matter.

I applied for summer seminar, and then I received an email saying that there wasn't enough slots for me, so I registered as a standby. A week later, I received another email saying there were enough spots left. So now I am going to Summer Seminar, in Session A.

Since I am trying to get into the academy, would it be okay for me to join the 2015 Hopefuls as well?

Hey guys, trying to get used to this website....Are there any people going to Summer Seminar in Session A? I sent in my application, and was told I wouldn't make it, and so I put my name on standby. One week later, I received an email saying they had room, so I applied. Can anyone tell me what summer seminar is like?

jks, don't you hate trolls?
Just click on the "groups" tab, click on search, type in 2015 Candidates, and its the group with the picture with the model airplane (should be the only one), and then join.... look for the button on the group... if you can't find it then.... idk.... I can't find the button anymore.....
