4th degree cadets with parents NOT attending parent's weekend -

Are they up for adoption? We are staying at a friend's house and probably have room for an extra guy or two. Would we be permitted to have them? OR would they go to their sponsor family if parents don't attend? Or do parents ALWAYS show up.

Parents don't always show up. It's kinda sad, that first year. I remember one girl sitting all alone at her desk while everyone was out in the hallway with their parents, she looked so forlorn.

I'm pretty sure you could "adopt" them. What a good idea.

We live in Boulder, Colorado about 2 hours north of the Academy. We have already told our daughter that she is welcome to bring home a couple of cadets, guys or girls, if there are cadets in her flight who don't have parents visiting. I understand that many local families will take 4th years home and that sponsor families, if in town for Labor Day weekend, will also take 4th years home for the weekend.

Great idea Kate! I will make a banner or notice directing guest and members to this link so that we can be sure all Doolies have a family to hang out with over PW!

Maybe you can start side by side list of "Parents offering to take Cadets" and a Parent or Cadet looking for Parents to take them in? As they get hooked up we can cross them out or remove from the list.

We will need to move the thread to public parents weekend forums for this to work Is that ok??

sure, let's move it to where it can do the most good. I don't know how we go about identifying doolies who DON'T have a place to go, but as I have said, we could take at least one (I need to check with my friend about how many she could really handle -she does have the 7 Randalls to board as well!)

Probably going to have to rely on the cadets themselves to identify those who's parents can't make it. I can understand how difficult that would be for some families.

in Kates 1st post that she and I can edit and add a side by side list of parents will to help and cadets needing a family.

the cadet can remain anonymous if we can just have source of contact. ( Do not post email or phone #s in threads give username and parents will PM you for info)
