Is there any way to find out my cadet's flight since he did not text me that? Or do I have to wait and hold out hope for a letter telling me the information? Thanks.

If you call the AOG, they can probably tell you. At least last year at I-Day, the AOG table was the place we found this info out before our cadet went upstairs. Since it is an alumni group, it's not like calling the powers-that-be directly at the Academy, which you would probably want to avoid! See below:

We also were on-site today and saw our son get on the bus. He's an Interceptor (flight C) for the summer and will be in 35 - Huge Wild Weasels for the academic year. Ironically, we met both Karen and Mike on the chapel wall earlier today and just bumped into them at dinner. Our son, Tim, and Julia will be in the same squadron this year.
Always fun to meet folks in site from this site. We'll hope to see some of you tomorrow morning for the swearing in ceremony. Thanks also to the Colorado Parents club for hosting a great get together and lunch earlier today. |

Remind me again. I know from the cadet's sophomore year on they stay with the same squadron. But their freshman year, do they have the same squadron all year or do they change at the semester change or is it just that they just change roommates at the semester change?

Was a great day -- even GREATER when, out of the blue around 4:15 comes a "pic-message" from my son with a picture of himself in ABU's after his haircut, and a message "They haven't taken my cell phone yet so I thought I'd send one last picture!" Then we had a bunch more back and forth messages until he said "wait -- I'll talk to you later..." around 7pm and then, NOTHING since! But, we're not sad, because it was ALL BONUS! The best message was really that "everything is okay" -- so I think he's doing fine.
Wahoo, kag -- were you the ones with the pink USAFA hat with the green lettering? Just curious -- because I was on the wall too, but learned later than my son (Interceptors D) had probably gone by (below the Chapel wall) around 3 pm. That morning he'd gone upstairs at 9:25 am and left on the bus at 10am. When I left around 5pm (just before the storm) one of the cadre had said they were only "half way" through with processing folks. It's going to be a long day for all our kids -- but it was a good one!

Alex is F - Flying Tigers - Red Lanyards, but he didn't tell me his flight number. We did manage to find the back of him in one of the Web guy shots - unless there was someone else wearing a green/white AE polo w/khaki pants. you never know.
think i will wait for him to tell me his flight. No one else has a cadet in Flying Tigers? kate in seattle now i need to figure out those squadron avatars |

Sorry RaptorDad - it wasn't me. We'll be back on the wall this morning as well for the ceremony. We also left when the thunder started rumbling around 12-1 yesterday. I'm sorry I didn't come back as it sounds like it was roughly a 6 hr journey from getting on the bus to seeing them walk by the chapel wall in their BDUs.
Today, I'm wearing a royal blue shirt (with Interceptors pin of course) - hubby will be in yellow polo. Hopefully we'll run into other fellow community parents as well. |

You guys should hold up a huge sign that says "USAFAcommunity Members" to find each other and I would love that.

Good morning all! My son, Jon, is in the Barbarians, Flight C (Orange), AS #7. He got the one he wanted because orange is his favorite color, and 7 is his lucky number.
No pics of him on WEB GUY yesterday, but 3 on Wed when he was at the AOG Bldg to wait for his B&B sponsor. I feel like I went through this process with him, though, because it was neat having WEBGUY to tell us everywhere they went. It looked like they were still giving haircuts after 11 PM last night though! How do I find out what his Squadron name is for the Academic year? It must be on the AFA website somewhere right?

I was referring to a name for the academic year instead of the number 7. Some folks seem to know the connection.
